The Program
Working with the Nature's Classroom Program Coordinator, classroom teachers can select those activities and programs which best suit the goals they have for their students. There are three programs to choose from:
- 2 night / 3 day
- 3 night / 4 day
- 4 night / 5 day
We will work with you to choose the program that is right for you. We can also accommodate special programs, housing or any dietary needs you may have.
A Typical Day at Nature's Classroom
A typical day includes a morning Field Group experience, two afternoon Special Interest Classes, and an evening activity.
Morning Field Group
The classroom teachers assign each child to a Field Group, and each group is assigned a Nature's Classroom teacher to lead the group every morning. The goal is to give students a better understanding of dynamic interactions in the natural world, in social situations and even within themselves.
Special Interest Classes
In the afternoon, students have a choice of many classes which are both academic and enjoyable. Science, Math, Social Studies and Humanities lessons are all offered , with an emphasis on motivating students and helping them appreciated the value of education.
Evening Activity
Evening Activities may be social or academic. Large group academic activities might include an Environmental Hearing, a Science Exposition, or an Underground Railroad activity.
